Our Staff

Cole Thomas Westwood, Lead Pastor

Cole served for six years in the U. S. military (Army Reserve and Active Duty Navy) prior to following God’s call into pastoral ministry.  He is a graduate of Heritage Baptist University (B.A. in Biblical Studies), Grace Theological Seminary (M.A. in Theological Studies) and the University of Wales, Bangor, United Kingdom (Ph.D. in Theological and Religious Studies).  Cole pastored churches in Indiana and Montana before joining the Covenant Church family in 2005 with his wife Lora and their five children.  He is passionate about prayer, expository preaching with practical application, and helping people reach their potential in Christ.  In his “free time,” you might find Cole reading the westerns of Louis L’Amour, SCUBA diving with family and friends, or ventilating targets at a local gun range.

Jeff Burger, Youth Pastor

Jeff is the newest member of the pastoral staff.  He was called to Covenant in November 2008.  In addition to his duties as Youth Pastor, he is a full time teacher at Thurston High School.  Before joining Covenant, he was the Youth Director at a local church for five years.  He has been passionately working with Christian youth since 1995.  Jeff is married to Becky and has been blessed with two beautiful children.  When time allows, Jeff enjoys jogging through local parks or playing music that honors God.

Miriam Powell, Church Secretary

Covenant Community Church has been my home church for over forty years. It has been my privilege to serve the Lord at Covenant in a variety of areas throughout those years, including Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Secretary, Children’s Choir Director, Pioneer Girls – Prayer Pal, Choir Member, Soloist and Decorating Committee Chairman. Among other things, I was on the Ladies Softball Team and also on the Covenant Bowling League. God has allowed me to serve in the office along side several wonderful pastors, including, Rev. H. Dalton Myers (retired), Rev. Stephen T. Baker (former  Associate Pastor), Pastor Jeff Burger, Youth Pastor and Rev. Dr. Cole T. Westwood, Lead Pastor. I have been blessed!

Maryann Hessling, Financial Secretary

Maryann has been at Covenant since 1983 and has been serving on staff as Financial Secretary since 2004. She enjoys serving in ways God enables. Covenant is where she met then later married her husband, Bruce, in 1993. They have been blessed with three precious boys. When she isn't serving at church she is busy teaching and investing in her family.

Tammy Davey, Church Secretary

Tammy Davey was born and raised in the Detroit metro area and currently resides in Redford township. She enjoys working as a part time secretary for Covenant Community Church. She and her husband Skip are parents to two adult sons and one 10 year old daughter. They also enjoy 2 grandsons. Tammy loves serving the Lord in ministry at Covenant through leading Bible Studies.  She also enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, gardening, and reading.
